Last day of the first month

Who would believe that January will be over so fast? In the beginning of the month I came across a layout ticker, when I set a goal of completed layouts this year and every time I finish one, I tick it off. My goal was to have a 100 layouts by the end of this year and I am on my way. So far I have about 15... In one month!
Today I fell in love with my COLORBOK scrapbooking kit and did two layouts exclusively from papers and embellishments from this kit.
The first one is about adorable playtime adventure and the second one is just a simple reminder how babies grow so FAST!

(For some unknown reason I can´t take pictures of square layouts with all four sides straight. Is it time for a new camera? :) )

I am currently working on a baby girl layout I am really excited about. Lots of pink, ribbons and cure accents :)

Using the scraps

I´ve been saving some packages from scrapbooking supplies in a large golden envelope. I knew there will be a time I will use them for a project and the time is NOW!
I had a piece of green stripped paper from an easel, blue and yellow paper from Life´s Little Occasions and patterned MakingMemories paper.

I used the green and blue patterned paper as whole and I cut a sun from the yellow one plus bunch of clouds from the blue one. I really like the result. Seems like a good idea, to even store the smallest scraps and packages and wait for their time. I really hate wasting anything, especially paper, so this looks like an idea I will repeat again :)

Following the sketch

Okey, two blogs in one day? Wow. Anyways, I found this awesome blog, Creative Scrappers, and they have cool sketches to follow! I really like this one and since I have tons of pictures from our recent LA trip that I would like to scrapbook before we move there, I went for it!
So this is the original sketch

and this is what I did with it! To be honest, I was really satisfied with it until I looked at their designers reveal on the sketch... but whatever. My style is usually clean and simple and although I sometimes wish I could make pages with lots of piled accents and embellishments, I know that is not me. Me is plain brown cardstock, patterned paper, punches, white pen and more paper :)

Land of the free

I am so not in a winter mood lately... So I decided to remember the awesome summer we had and do a little celebration layout. I had this circle idea in mind, with the perfect shades of blue and red to look a little like the American flag. As I was about to glue it all together, I realize I have the colors, but not the structure. So I cut six 1 inch stripes and adhered it to the cardstock to mimic the stripes of the flag. And I totally love it!

Remembering Christmas

Would you believe they were here not even a month ago? I love Christmas and that´s why my December Daily album is still in progress... working on it every day! But the pictures are never ending, so are the embellishments I would like to add, papers I would like to use... This is one of too many pages I did and I have many more of them. My huge Christmas paper stack is providing me a source of endless inspiration. This WOW layout nicely says everything that need to be said about the first Christmas JR actually remembers. A big tree with loads of gifts underneath... Wow.

Eleven more months and we can celebrate again!

Fall in California

A while ago there was a town, where December was full of sun, colorful leaves were on the ground in huge piles and bare trees stood in warm fall sun. And then it got cold, foggy and frosty. All in a month.
To remind myself that the winter won't be here forever and it's been just a month since we raked leaves in Papas yard, I got inspired by the January issue of CK magazine and created a page about our fall. OK, their was about January weather, but my December pictures taken originally for December Daily were so fresh and crisp, I decided to use them instead.
I reached for my apparently never ending supply of K&Company fall paper, some Colorbok patterned paper and random fall embellishments and ribbon. I just wish the nice weather will be back soon...

Some things just need time

... as this layout. The right page was sitting on my desk forever. I cut the pictures into 4x4 squares, adhered them, did the cute embellishments - and couldn't move to the left page. So I just let it be, wait for it's time.
Finally yesterday I had an awesome idea. I used the green patterned paper as the base, with the other green paper matching the right side. Plus I had awesome wedding kit letter, that were just perfect for this page. And to write something in the journaling place was so easy!
I am really glad I waited for couple of months before finishing this. It probably wouldn't be half as good as it is now.

I used Martha Stewart Paper Pad (grey leaves), Basic Grey Origins (mineral soak), ChatterBox (light green pattern), random buttons and flowers.

Brothers

Welcome to the new year!
Beginnings are always exciting, because they bring a clean slate into everyday life. I love new days, new weeks, new months. And to have a new year - that certainly deserves a celebration.
Not that I celebrated the traditional way. No, I was asleep way before midnight. But my heart was pumping fast from all the possibilities... Wow. I love this year.
I was actually thinking about doing the Project Life, but not this year. I don't feel committed enough to take a picture every day. My December Daily album is enough proof on that matter.
This year I started my scrapbooking in a family way - "Brothers" layout. I had these not-so-good-light pictures from Christmas, but funny enough, it will match the green and blue paper perfectly. I used some DCVW birdie paper, leftover striped paper and that was it!
Way to go...
