B-Day Card and Other Cards

I was making a lot of cards recently. One birthday card, one get well wish and one just for someone being sweet, one thank you and one challenge card I did not submit, because it was too late :(

The "Get Well" card is for a man, but I used a little pink in the background... I intended to make the birthday card as elegant as possible because it was for an older men and the "So Sweet" card is just so sweet :) My favourite!

I love the green flowers!!!
Aren't they cute?
Muah!

Jillibean Soup Sketch Challenge

My new favourite scrapbook paper maker Jillibean Soup posted a sketch challenge on their website and I jumped on it! I really want to make my scrapbooking a business or at least make a name in the scrapbooking world, so I feel like competing now :)) Just joking. It is nice to compare my scrapbooking with other ladies out there with the same sketch and as long I have clicked on the all submitted links, it looks pretty amazing!
I did my scrapbook yesterday, I just recieved my Jillibean Soup papers the previous week so I am fully equipped for a challenge.

Cardstock: Best Occasions
Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup
Rub-on Stitching: DCWV
The rest: I have no idea :D

Looks cool, huh? :))

Moving on

I finally finished three layouts and can move on to other projects. My Budapest album! I have been in Hungary in winter 2007, when I was pregnant. I got my pics developed soon after and stored them for the right time to scrapbook them. Well, my son will be two in March and my Budapest pics are still on my table. I guess the time finally came :)) I want to do an 8x8 minialbum, because the pictures are smaller than 4x6, i guess 3x5 and I have only 30 or them or so. I cut the paper into small squares and I plat to use the leftovers for Thanksgiving page.
But then I realized i bought at Michaels a cute little spiral bounded diary I wanted to use as a minialbum. It's flower shaped, but has a lot of space for the many pictures from Thanksgiving I have. Maybe I will just do a book, instead of layout, because Thanksgiving 2009 was my first! Memorable...
I am working on the living room carpet. Creative mess :) But I like it. I moved on, so proud of me :)

Keeping up with... me

Few days ago I bought new issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine and I was overwhelmed when I flipped trough the pages and saw all the beautiful pages I want to try to create myself. I took the magazine with some new scrapbooking supplies - we recently paid a visit to Michaels and I exchange serious money for new stamps and papers - to my studio and oops! I realized I have at least five pages they need to be completed.
I have two pages about Jr going fishing, I have one called All bundled up. The papers are cut, positioned on the page, but not glued. No journaling, no title. I have another fishing layout that needs title and journaling and I have one about me that I glued the papers wrong, so I need to start all over. And I should not forget about the Budapest album and the three pages about Jr that I have sketches for, but not finished pages?
A big oops is repeating itself in my head. I can not start anymore projets before I finish the ones they need to be finished...
Oh and did I say I have three writing deadlines on Monday and I want to paint Jr's room and do some early Valentines decorations for the dining room?
Don't you have some free time to borrow? :)

Making cards makes me...

... happy, calm and productive. Sometimes I spend days creating a layout and I think about it day and night, adding pictures, papers and embelishments. But when I make cards from scraps, I can make several cards within an hour! I never think about it twice, usually follow simple grid scheme, choose complementary color, few hearts or stamps and here I go.
This year I will spend the last days of each month creating cards from scraps I gathered during the month by scrapbooking. My plan is to use each piece of leftover paper to make a card. Then I can really consider myself a frugal scrapbooker, right? :) No waste at all.
And cards are more visible than my scrapbooks. I usually don't show my pages to everyone, because I feel that is just not appropriate. But cards I can send and people will see them, a little piece of my art. Making them happy. I love making others happy. Scrapbooking makes me happy, so we are all happy in the end. Love it! :)

Scraps of the scraps of the scraps

This year I decided to use every single scrap I have and make scrapbooks, cards and greetings from them. That's what it is scrapbooking about, right?
I started with bigger pieces from my DCVW Tahiti Beach Stack and made a cute layout using black and flower paper. Then I took the the scraps and made a card. And from the scraps of the scraps I made another card! They look kinda cute, but I still don't know, what should I do with them. I figured out that "4U" and "thinkin' of you" can be used anytime, but I really don't send cards just like that. Maybe I should start...
Scraps of the scraps of the scraps were really fun today. I am up for a cute but difficult layout to make tomorrow. The colors on it are really strong and I can't wait to finish it!
Good night for now. kumC

My 2010 resolution is..

Some time ago I decided to become a professional scrapbooker. I honestly love this art more than writing and I have been freelance writing for the past five years.
So my 2010 resolution is to start my scrapbooking career! I make at least one layout a day, scrapbooking in my dream and everywhere I go, i take pictures specifically to make scrapbooks of them and lately start writing diary to capture all daily moments to have journaling for scrapbooks later.
When I was researching my options for becoming a custom scrapbook artist, I realized the importance of a well maintained blog. And here I go. I created House of Frisby as my blog when I lived overseas, to stay in touch with my husband and let him know about my everyday live. Now, House of Frisby is going to be my ultimate online scrapbooking retreat. I will post my layouts, talk about trying new techniques (i just inked the eges of a paper for the first time yesterday!) and my love for scrapbooking. And I hope you will join me too.
Happy scrapbooking in 2010!
